Nina Peleš
This London and Belgrade based artist places her figures within different territorial, political, social and emotional categories, thereby highlighting the ambivalence of self-knowledge. Her intense images, in which the features of the subjects depicts multiply and interpenetrate each other, personifying all layers of an individual's self. Those layers fully represent the personality of the artist herself, but also of the viewer. Peleš’s themes are deeply connected with the subconscious, personal and collective; with individual, familial, and intergenerational experiences. She is inspired to explore the intimate landscapes of dreams and geographic destinies, intertwined with the complexities of everyday life. She views art as both a necessity and a form of therapy and has worked work with both children and adults on art as therapy based on psychodynamic principles. She has exhibited her works across London, at both solo and group exhibitions. More recently, she is writing and has held a string of new exhibitions, mainly in the Balkans. Nina’s studio-gallery is located in Belgrade, the city of her birth.
Željko Ćorović
This London based multi-disciplinary artist’s career spans political and religious satire, scientific theory, portraiture, sketch, interior design, geological landscapes and sculpture. Born in Sarajevo, the cultural intersection of Socialist Yugoslavia and consequently, the city most destroyed by religious nationalists in the country’s infamous civil war. He studied in the prestigious Sarajevo University of Fine Art, followed by a journey of international exhibitions, ultimately settling in London where he lives and works. Ćorović's timeless creations relentlessly embody human resilience in the face of stark adversity and confront unoriginal thinking. He recently held a retrospective exhibition in London's iconic brutalist Kensington Town Hall to celebrate the launch of monograph entitled 'Željko Ćorović - Retrospective', available at the Balkan Art Organisation now.
